SODIUM BROMIDE (SODYUM BROMÜR)
Sodium bromide is an inorganic sodium salt having bromide as the counterion. It is a bromide salt and an inorganic sodium salt. Sodium bromide (NaBr) is a single salt clear brine fluid with the following features and benefits.Sodium bromide is extensively used medically as a hypnotic, anticonvulsant and a sedative. Sodium bromide is also used in conjunction with chlorine as a disinfectant for hot tubs and swimming pools. Sodium bromide is non-damaging to the formation. Sodium bromide is thermally and chemically stable. Sodium bromide can be blended with other solutions of bromides and chlorides, and Sodium bromide is especially useful when used in formations that are known to have calcium sensitivity.Sodium bromide percent aqueous solution of sodium bromide has a density of 12.4 pounds per gallon and a crystallization temperature (LCTD) of 41°F (5°C).A pure sodium bromide (NaBr) brine fluid is often selected when the chloride ion is not desirable and when sodium is preferred over calcium. Sodium bromide is often used in situations where formation waters contain high levels of sulfate or carbonate that may precipitate with the calcium ion. Sodium Bromide Solution is generally immediately available in most volumes. Sodium Bromide High purity, submicron and nanopowder forms may be considered. Most metal Sodium bromide compounds are water soluble for uses in water treatment, chemical analysis and in ultra high purity for certain crystal growth applications. NaBr crystallizes in the same cubic motif as NaCl, NaF and NaI. The anhydrous salt crystallizes above 50.7 °C.[7] Dihydrate salts (NaBr·2H2O) crystallize out of water solution below 50.7 °C.[8]
NaBr is produced by treating sodium hydroxide with hydrogen bromide.
 
Sodium bromide can be used as a source of the chemical element bromine. This can be accomplished by treating an aqueous solution of NaBr with chlorine gas:

Applications

Also known as Sedoneural, sodium bromide has been used as a hypnotic, anticonvulsant, and sedative in medicine, widely used as an anticonvulsant and a sedative in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its action is due to the bromide ion, and for this reason potassium bromide is equally effective. In 1975, bromides were removed from drugs in the U.S. such as Bromo-Seltzer due to toxicity.[10]

Production method
Urea reduction: dissolve soda ash (sodium carbonate), urea in hot water, and fed into the reactor;  gradually add bromine for reaction and generate sodium bromide. Then further add active carbon for decolorization;  further undergo filtration, evaporation, crystallization, centrifugal separation, and drying to obtain sodium bromide products. The reaction is as following: 
3Br2 + 3Na2CO3 + NH2CONH2 › 6NaBr + 4CO2 ^ + N2 ^ + 2H2O 
Neutralization method: add about 40% hydrobromic acid into the reactor, stir and slowly add 40% caustic solution for neutralization to Ph 7.5~8 for generating sodium bromide;  after isolated by centrifugation, evaporation, crystallization and centrifuged again separation, then we can obtain the final product of sodium bromide. the reaction is:
HBr + NaOH › NaBr + H2O
