Product Name: Melamine Polyphosphate (MPP)

Melamine Polyphosphate by ATAMAN is a halogen-free, flame retardant based on melamine polyphosphate.

Melamine polyphosphate has high heat stability.

Melamine polyphosphate shows low water solubility.

Melamine polyphosphate can be used alone in certain thermosets but is generally combined with more powerful phosphorus FRs.

Melamine polyphosphate (MPP) is an efficient nitrogen-phosphorus intumescent flame retardant.

Melamine polyphosphate has the advantages of high thermal stability, low water solubility, and excellent flame-retardant properties.

Melamine polyphosphate is mainly used as a flame retardant in glass fiber-reinforced nylon, polyurethane, and fiber fabrics.

Melamine polyphosphate, as a white powder, opens up new and broader color schemes for flame retarded glass fiber-reinforced PA 66.

The mechanism is based on intumescence.

A strong and stable char is formed at fire exposure, which protects the polymer and prevents further flame propagation.

The excellent balance between intumescence and thermal stability of Melamine polyphosphate provides a processing window of up to 320 °C.

Excellent health and safety data offer additional handling and processing advantages.

Melamine polyphosphate is a kind of environmental halogen-free flame retardant with high thermal stability and decomposition temperature.

Melamine polyphosphate is widely used in thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic, fiber, and other products.

Upon exposure to intense fire, it forms a stable char, which protects the polymer and prevents further flame propagation.

Recommended for glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66 and polyester (PBT).

Primarily used for electrical & electronic applications (connectors, switches & housings).

The excellent balance between intumescence and thermal stability provides a processing window of up to 320°C.

Melamine Polyphosphate complies with UL 94 V0 (0.8 mm) at 25% by weight.

Melamine polyphosphate decomposes endothermically above 350ºC as a heat sink to cool the polymer.

The released phosphoric acid further reacts with the polymer to form a char and inhibit the release of free radical gasses into the oxygen phase.

Simultaneously, nitrogen species released from the degradation of melamine intumesces the char to protect the polymer further.

Melamine polyphosphate-based halogen-free flame retardants are primarily used for glass fiber-reinforced polyamide and polyester (e.g., PBT).

They can be used as a synergist in many other applications and polymers.

Melamine polyphosphate flame retardant decomposes endothermically above 350ºC, acting as a heat sink to cool the polymer.

The released phosphoric acid further reacts with the polymer to form a char and inhibit the release of free radical gasses into the oxygen phase.

Simultaneously, nitrogen species removed from the degradation of melamine intumesces the char to protect the polymer further.

Melamine polyphosphate flame retardant was initially developed to suit the high processing temperatures associated with the compounding of glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastics.

Melamine polyphosphate flame retardants have also evolved into other applications over time, either replacing existing flame retardant systems, such as ammonium polyphosphate (APP) or permitting the development of new formulations, such as flame retardant epoxy resins or phenolic resins, with improved flame retardancy.

MELAMINE POLYPHOSPHATE flame retardant is mainly used in PA and PBT, especially PA6 and PA66.

MELAMINE POLYPHOSPHATE can be used in all injection and extrusion processes and meet all types of processing demands of polyamide and glass fiber polyamide.

MPP Melamine Polyphosphate Flame Retardant provides robust thermal decomposition and a great flame retardant effect.

Melamine polyphosphate can be abbreviated as MPP.

Melamine polyphosphate is a halogen-free fire retardant that contains nitrogen and phosphorus.

Its highlighted strengths incorporate excellent thermal stability, no moisture absorption, a slight smokiness, and low insolubility in water.

Thus, this melamine derivative can offer a wide range of applications.

Product Features

1. Melamine polyphosphate pertains to eco-friendly flame retardant due to the nitrogen-phosphorus synergism.

2. Melamine polyphosphate requires a higher decomposition temperature than melamine phosphate, so it will not affect the surface smoothness of the base material.

3. Additionally, MPP is provided with distinguished weather resistance.

This melamine compound will not become yellow without any bromine content and can offer superior anti-ultraviolet performance.

4. Melamine polyphosphate is a white, crystalline powder. It possesses outstanding pigmenting properties, friendly dispersing properties, and low moisture absorption.

5. MPP can be added into fireproof coating at will but not increase the viscosity of the coating.

Product Applications

1. As a nitrogen-phosphorus-based halogen-free flame retardant, the melamine polyphosphate can be used alone as a fire retardant or an additive flame retardant.

2. Melamine polyphosphate has wide applications in various types of thermoplastics, polyolefins, synthetic rubber, engineering resins, flameproof coatings, paper, fireproof plates, and other materials.

3. MPP can partly replace ammonium polyphosphate (APP) due to its excellent fire-resistant performance.

It can be used not only alone in the glass fiber reinforced flame retardant PA66/6 or PP but also in combination with pentaerythritol to be applied in polyolefins, glass fiber reinforced flame retardant PA6/PA66, and SMC (unsaturated resin). Additionally, it can also be used together with ammonium polyphosphate.

4. Compared with the traditional halogen-based flame retardant, melamine polyphosphate features strong fire resistance, low smoke density, low toxicity, and low corrosion.

Melamine polyphosphate can entirely meet the need for environmental protection.
