Formic acid is added, heated, and refluxed for 4-5 hours, then cooled and immediately distilled by adding NaOH to collect all fractions before boiling point 99 °c.
Then NaOH is added to the distillate until saturation, cooling, separation of the oil layer, drying, fractionation, and collection of boiling point 114.5~117 C fraction is the finished product.
