Decyl glucoside is a mild non-ionic surfactant used in cosmetic formularies including baby shampoo and in products for individuals with a sensitive skin. Many natural personal care companies use this cleanser because it is plant-derived, biodegradable, and gentle for all hair types.
In 2017, the American Contact Dermatitis society named alkyl glucosides, a class of compounds including decyl, lauryl, cetearyl, and coco glucosides, the Allergen of the Year, with decyl glucoside named as “the most common one in the class of alkyl glucosides to cause allergic contact dermatitis.”[1]
Synthesis of Decyl glucoside
Decyl glucoside is produced by the reaction of glucose from corn starch with the fatty alcohol decanol, which is derived from coconut.

Decyl glucoside is an organic compound from the family of glucosides, glucose heterosides. It is a nonionic surfactant used in the formulation of cosmetics and appreciated for its non-aggressive nature, and therefore suitable for sensitive skin (babies, children, atopy).
It is produced by the binding of two components from plants (glucose and C10 fatty alcohol from coconut), and therefore very biodegradable, it is often used by companies formulating more natural cosmetics.
Decyl glucoside 200 ml
Decyl glucoside is a surfactant of plant origin approved by Ecocert. It is generally used for the preparation of washing or shampoo base.
Suitable for all skin types, even sensitive, Decyl glucoside is a gentle cleanser that provides abundant foam. It also acts as a stabilizer in the emulsion.
To make cosmetic preparations of foaming gels and shampoos for the face and body. In recipes, it can be used alone as a basic foaming agent or in combination with another surfactant such as Coco glucoside. Mix 3 to 30% of the total weight of your preparation in the aqueous phase.
Always dilute Decyl glucoside before use and avoid pure contact with the skin.
Avoid contact with eyes. External use only. Keep out of the reach of children.

Decyl glucoside is a nonionic surfactant approved by organic cosmetics specifications, which comes from corn sugar and coconut oil.
This ingredient creates a lather and allows the product to be “cleansed” when incorporated into foaming cleansing care preparations.
It is a mild surfactant that does not dry out the skin.
Decyl glucoside produces an abundant and stable foam, ideal for homemade shower gels and homemade bubble baths.
In recipes, other surfactants are often combined with it (coco-betaine, coco-glucoside) in order to boost the foaming effect and ensure its gentle cleansing power while maintaining ant the product stable.
NOTE: Surfactants are always added at the end of a shampoo-shower gel recipe and are soluble in water. Decyl-glucoside, coco-betaine and coco-glucoside are frequently associated.

These are surfactants (cleaning action) of sugar, extracted from coconut oil and glucose. These purely plant-based surfactants are particularly gentle on the skin and ecologically safe due to their biodegradability.
Used in shampoos and shower gels due to their foaming and slightly thickening properties, they make the skin supple and soft. These surfactants can also reduce the irritation potential of other surfactants, ensuring safer use of cosmetics. They can also be used in cleansing care for inflamed skin.
