The derivative 4-nonanoylmorpholine is an ingredient in some pepper sprays. The ammonium salt of isononanoic acid, ammonium nonanoate, is an herbicide. It is commonly used in conjunction with glyphosate, a non-selective herbicide, for a quick burn-down effect in the control of weeds in turfgrass.

L`acide nonanoque ou acide plargonique est un acide carboxylique.

L`acide nonanoque se trouve naturellement sous forme d`esters dans l`huile de pelargonium.

La production se fait principalement par le procd oxo et par traitement de l`acide olique avec de l`ozone, de l`acide nitrique ou du dichlore6.

Usages

Acide nonanoque est utilis dans la synthse de lubrifiants, de peroxydes, d`armes notamment par raction avec les alcools pour produire des esters et de catalyseurs pour rsines6. Notamment, les esters synthtiques de l`acide nonanoque, comme le nonanoate de mthyle, sont utiliss comme armes.

Le driv 4-nonanoylmorpholine, amide de l`acide nonanoque et de la morpholine, est un ingrdient de sprays lacrymognes.
