Application
Loxanol OT 5840 is a highly effective additive based on straight long
chain alcohols. It prolongs the ‘open time’ and often provides
elastification whereby cracks in plaster are avoided to a large extent.
The extent to which the ‘open time’ may be prolonged by means of
Loxanol OT 5840 depends largely on the type of polymer emulsion
involved. Tests have shown that styrene acrylic emulsions require a
higher dosage of Loxanol OT 5840 than vinyl acetate copolymers.
