Polyethylene glycol 9000, also called PEG 9000 or Macrogol in the European pharmaceutical industry, is manufactured by polymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) with either water, mono ethylene glycol or diethylene glycol as starting material, under alkaline catalysis.
