Sodium methallyl sulfonate – Physico-chemical Properties

1) Sodium Methallyl Sulfonate can be used in Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer(PC) as the chain transfer agent .Keep the PC being off odour ,meanwhile indraughting sulfonic acid group with high dispersion and dispersion retention ability. Good effect for plasticizer of cement admixture.

2) As a monomer of corrosion and scale inhibitors, this product can be used in water treatment chemicals. It can polymerize with acrylic acid, acrylamide, maleic anhydride, sodium hypophosphite and has good scale inhibition effects for calcium phosphate, zinc salts, carbonate calcium and calcium sulfate.  

3) As an oil field chemical, it can polymerize with acrylamide, acrylic acid, sodium humate, acrylamido propyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, acrylamido-ethyl-2-methyl ammonium chloride, diethyl diallyl ammonium chloride, allyl trimethyl ammonium chloride to be dispersants, fluid loss agent and have remarkable effect in anti-high temperature and salt.                     

4)As the third monomer of acrylic fiber, this product can improve the dyeing properties, the heat resistance and flexibility of fibers, so they can absorb color fast and have strong fastness and bright color. 

5) As a paint additive, it can be used to produce thermosetting acrylic resin and coating dispersant to increase thewater solubility.                                                     

6) As a monomer of flocculant, it can polymerize with acrylamide. 

7) It can polymerize with methyl acrylic acid, itaconic acid to be a dispersant.            

8) It can be used to make CPPL and high water-absorbing resin in electronics and materials processing.                                                                   

9) It can polymerize with sodium acrylate, styrene-acrylic emulsion, polyvinyl alcohol to improve fertilizer about red soil and strengthen absorb ammonium ion, nitrateion.                   

10) It can be used for the third oil displacement agent.                                  

11) As one dry strength agent of papermaking additives, it can improve the quality of the paper.  

SMAS is mainly used as the third monomer in the process of wet polyacrylonitrile. 

It can improve the dyeability, heat resistance, sense of touch and ease the weaving of the polyacrylonitrile. 

Also, it can be used in water treatment and paint additive industries.

Applications:

It is mainly used as the third monomer in the process of wet polyacrylonitrile.

Terpolymer of sodium methyl acryl sulfonate-N,N-dimethylacrylamide-acrylamide(SMAS-DMAM-AM)was synthesized by terpolymerization in aqueous solution. 

It can improve the dyeability,heat resistance,sense of touch and easily weaving of the polyacrylonitrile. Also it can be used on water treatment and paint additive industries.
