ZDBC

ZDBC is ZINC DIBUTYLDITHIOCARBAMATE, and it is used as ULTRA ACCELERATOR in the vulcanization process of Rubber.

ZDBC, also called Zinc Dibutyldithiocarbamate, is a chemical compound used primarily as an accelerator in the rubber industry.

ZDBC is widely used to produce rubber-based products such as tires, shoe soles, and industrial belts.

ZDBC helps speed up the vulcanization process, which enhances rubber’s physical properties and durability.

COMPOSITION OF ZDBC : Zinc Dibutyldithiocarbamate CAS#136-23-2

ZDBC is used in the Manufacture of NR/SR latex-based products, NR/IR-based transparent molded products, and as a secondary accelerator for the manufacture of bloom-free EPDM, NR/EPDM blend, molded, and extruded rubber products.

ZDBC is a very fast primary or secondary (ultra) accelerator for natural and synthetic rubber.

It is also a very rapid accelerator for NR and SBR latices.

Additionally, ZDBC is an antioxidant in rubber adhesive systems.

MAJOR APPLICATIONS AND PROPERTIES OF ZDBC

– ZDBC is a secondary ultra accelerator for thiazole and sulfenamide cure systems in general-purpose polymers (NR, SBR, IIR, EPDM).

It can be used as a primary accelerator in specialty applications and latex.

– In latex applications, ZDBC is mainly used for transparent goods and pre-vulcanized latex.

– An additional application of ZDBC is as an antioxidant in adhesive systems.

– Zinc Dibutyldithiocarbamate/ZDBC gives faster cures than ZDEC or ZDMC.

– It should be noted that when applying ZDBC, N-nitrosodibutylamine can be formed by reacting dibutylamine, a decomposition product, with nitrosating agents (nitrogen oxides).

– ZDBC is regulated for use in articles in contact with food as specified under FDA 21 CFR 175.105, 178.2010, 175.300, 177.1210, 177.2600 and BfR Recommendation XXI, Categories 1-4 and “Sonderkategorie”.

COMPOUNDING INFORMATION

In NR latex, when used as a primary accelerator, 1 phr of ZDBC with 2.5 phr sulfur is a good

starting point.

In EPDM, ZDBC has the highest solubility of all dithiocarbamates, offering the lowest blooming effect.

An acceptable starting point for a low-set, non-blooming EPDM compound is ZDBC- Zinc Dibutyldithiocarbamate 2.0, TMTD 0.8, DPTT 0.8, and DTDM 2.0 phr.

In rubber, cured in contact with polyester textiles, ZDBC Zinc Dibutyldithiocarbamate is preferably used over other dithiocarbamates.
